From as far back as I can remember, I have been seeing images of celebrities on TV, in magazines at the grocery store, and in newspapers. They were always portrayed so gloriously. They had money, cars, fame, and not a care in the world. At least that is how I saw it. Lucky for me, I have always been a hard-headed girl with good parents that provided with a good life. I never wanted to be “one of them.” Don’t get me wrong, I had my share of school girl crushes on the New Kids on the Block, fantasized about being Michael Jackson’s girlfriend, and pretended to be married to a member of New Edition. However, at the end of the day, I still wanted to be Wilyen and wanted to live in my real world. Not everyone is this way though and the abundance of celebrity culture that is presented to us on a daily basis may cause some people to become obsessive with their favorite celebrities. Celebrity culture is fun to indulge in for entertainment purposes, however with the amount of exposure they get in the media; some people have taken it to the extreme and created issues such as stalking, obsession, and negative self-image. We see more celebrity news on TV and in print than we do national and international
