Abstract: The objectives for this experiment include investigating the relationships among mix design parameters, reviewing the ACI method for concrete mix proportioning, learning ASTM Standards, observe the production, sampling, and testing of fresh and hardened concrete, and apply statistical analysis to highly variable strength test data. These objectives were achieved by following the ACI method for concrete mix proportioning, ASTM C 31, ASTM C 39, ASTM C 496, and ASTM C 78 to proportion, prepare, and test 6” x 12” and 4” x 8” concrete cylinders and modulus of rupture beams. In order for this experiment to be performed, certain equipment was needed including cylinder and modulus of rupture beam molds, various concrete mix equipment, two buckets for stock aggregate, and a scale sensitive to at least 0.2 pounds. 2
