Unformatted text preview: Coach Helmer is Not Fazed by Expectations By Christopher Webb On the brink of hoping to surmise their 2011 indoor season as national champions, IU Coach Ron Helmer isn’t going to let the approbation of the team’s success overhype their expectations. Going into the NCAA nationals this Friday in Texas, Coach Helmer will have the opportunity to have three athletes of the year honorees at his display to bring a championship back to IU, not to mention his own accolade of being named Coach of the Year, yet he is not convinced of being the favorites. “The best way to succeed, is to lower expectations,” Coach Helmer Said of his team’s inconceivable notion for his top athletes to live up to people expectations. “They need to understand that they don’t have to perform a superhuman fete.” Coach Helmer added: “You can’t always be perfect,” With a slight contradiction, IU athletes sophomore Andy Bayer, senior Faith Sherrill and junior Derek Drouin, have been nothing short of perfect as they consistently broke facility records and...
