IU stays poised as they move up the Rankings By Christopher Webb The IU track and field squad men has moved up in the national computer rankings, bumping the Oregon Ducks out of the top 5 this week and now looking to stay poised heading into the Tyson Invitational. The ranking is the highest since 2007 and with a few of Coach Ron Helmers top athletes coming back from sitting out last week from rest, he believes they can have success going into Arkansas. “I hope to send a couple individuals to Arkansas and hopefully get some big, solid times,” Coach Helmers said “We have to do a better job than we did last meet (Meyo Invitational) and with some guys coming back from sitting out the (Meyo Invitational), I think we’ll be ready” Sophomore Zach Mayhew is happy about his team performances this season when all are together as whole and he believes having a teammate like sophomore Andy Bayer, who sat out

Its pretty amazing when you have somebody like Andy Bayer on your team who can do big things, Mayhew Said We have a lot of guys who can play together and who can do big things; and can step it up every weekend, Mayhew, although he loves seeing his team have success as well as his teammates, Mayhew also has aspirations of his own, including qualifying for nationals in the 3000-meters and hitting the auto mark of 7:54.00. My goal is to qualify for nationals in the 3k (3000-meters), Mayhew Said My goal is also to hit the auto mark at 7:54.00. The IU track and field squad with already participating in the Tyson Invitational will also be playing host in the two day Hoosier Hills meet on Friday and Saturday at the Gladstein Fieldhouse....
