Unformatted text preview: Wraps of Hope: The Mayam Gamela Oda profile By Christopher Webb A morning sleep, refused to be prolonged by the constant alarm noises of her sprint smart phone, over and over again, screeching out Kanye West “heard em say”, savvying through Maryam Gamela Oda’s earlobes as she wakes up for her morning classes, she is reminded that she is bless to live another day. Wiping the “eye boogers”from her eyes, not complaining, just humming the words to her alarm ringtone, she takes a knee as she does every morning, and praise “Allah” to be able to breathe another day. Having a chance to thank “Allah” for another chance to see the morning sun, she states is “faith gives me more energy than coffee can give me any day”. Her strong belief of Islam she claims was somewhat “rigid” at the age of 15 years old growing up in West San Diego, California.
