IU tops Purdue for their first official team win of the season By Christopher Webb IU men’s and women’s track and field squad defeated in state and Big Ten conference rivals Purdue on Saturday in West Lafayette, claiming their first official team win of the season. The women, led by shot putter Faith Sherrill, won by a final score of 89-47, as Sherrill followed up on her last week record breaking performance of shattering the Big Ten record, by breaking the Lambert Fieldhouse record. The men’s team also with a win, won by a final score of 77-59, running the Boilmakers right off their tracks. Sprinter Kind Butler, who reached an IU milestone, tied the IU 60-meter dash record of a time of 6.72, also held by former IU sprinters Russell Brooks and UnRico Lloyd. “I didn’t expect to win,” the humble Butler Said “three of the fastest top 10 runners were running against me, I surprised myself.” Although Butler didn’t expect to win, he still had it out for Shane Crawford, 60-meters Big Ten champion, who also ran in the race.
