Torres 1 Francisco Torres Professor Tinajero English 1302 11 June 2011 America There are many countries around the world today. Not all of them are the same. Some have different forms of government, and others fail to establish a well-formed government. Every country has its own well defined characteristics, whether it is their form of government or their characteristic as a third world country . ( One country for me stands out the most of all the others why is this sentence here? How does it make sense in the context?) I like to judge a country from their accomplishment s and not their failures. Many people today just think of all the failures a country has caused, but never consider the greatness it has achieve d . Achievements are what define a country, rather than failures. In the democratic convention in 2004 , Barack Obama said “ [t] hat is the true genius of America, a faith in the simple dreams of its people, the insistence on small miracles. That we can say what we think, write what we think, without hearing a sudden knock on the door. That we can have an idea and start our own business without paying a bribe or hiring somebody's son. That we can participate in the political process without fear of retribution, and that our votes will be counted -- or at least, most of the time” (In Notable Quotes). Spreading democracy was only one of the major achievements America achieved. The other crucial thing the country accomplished was what it provided the citizens . America provided a strong military that anybody of the age of 18 can join, a free public education and a free market economy. Every country is different in its own unique way, but what describes a great country is what it can provide for its people and to the world.
