Defined…. Qualitative social research is a broad label used to describe the methods employed to examine the everyday behaviors of people in a natural setting. Other labels used to describe qualitative research include: Ethnography : A detailed cultural analysis of the everyday practices, interactions, and patterns of behavior of a specific cultural group or groups.

Continued…. Field research or fieldwork : a general term used to describe research conducted in the field of natural setting. Case Study : the systematic investigation of phenomenon within its natural context in which multiple sources and multiple methods (qualitative and quantitative) are utilized. (A particular event). Other terms include grounded theory and naturalistic research .
