Experiment Research Defined The investigation of relationships among variables in a controlled setting.

Purposes Experiments are used to provide evidence that two variables are related to each other. Theories provide statements about the relationships among variables. Experiments provide compelling evidence that indeed these relationships exist. By controlling extraneous variables a researcher can make the argument that two variables are related. Only an experiment can control extraneous variables.
