Introduction The definition of Public Display of Affection (also known as PDA) is physically demonstrating affection for another person while in the view of others, example: kissing, holding hands, petting (sometimes heavy petting). I have chosen to study this aspect of Interpersonal Communication, called intimate relationship. An intimate relationship is defined as an interpersonal relationship with a great deal of physical and/or emotional intimacy. It is usually described to be romantic or passionate love and attachment. I have chosen this aspect of interpersonal communication after conducting my observation assignment. I conducted my observations assignment at Buffalo Wild Wings a couple weeks ago. I went into that assignment with an open mind about what I would focus on, and after beginning the observation, I narrowed it down to public display of affection. I spent about an hour and a half in Buffalo Wild Wings observing how different couples display their feelings for each other. I am not a huge proponent of public display of affection. I definitely think there is an appropriate way to show how you feel about someone and there is definitely so many times that people cross the line. I think that there is a right and wrong way to go about PDA, but I also do think that it is completely subjective. How do people between the ages of 20 years old and 25 years old exhibit public displays of affection?
