LEARNING OUTCOMES Students completing this course should: 1. Be able to identify and write questions of Definition, Fact, and Value. 2. Know the purpose of research. 3. Know the relationship between theory and research. 4. Be able to construct an annotated bibliography. 5. Be familiar with the basic characteristics of historical-critical research. 6. Be familiar with the basic characteristics of qualitative research 7. Be able to conduct naturalistic observation. 8. Be able to conduct qualitative interviews. 9. Identify and understand the levels of measurement. 10. Define and give examples of reliability and validity. 11. Identify the difference between independent and dependent variables. 12. Be able to operationalize variables. 13. Be able to construct a survey. 14. Be familiar with the basic characteristics of quantitative-experimental research. 15. Understand the difference between descriptive and inferential statistics. 16. Know how to perform basic descriptive statistics. 17. Know how to understand the published results of inferential statistics. 18. Be able to write a prospectus for a study.
