Text : Applied Calculus , 3 rd edition, Deborah Hughes-Hallett et al, 2006, John Wiley & Sons, Inc. ISBN: 0470008512 Prerequisite : By direct placement by the placement test or recent completion of two years of high school algebra or Math 110 or 111, with minimum grade of C-. Course Description : 3 credits. Brief Survey of Calculus. In this course, we see a brief introduction to calculus including derivatives and integrals, along with applications of calculus to business and economics. Calculators : You will need a scientific calculator (about $12). A recommended model is TI-30Xa. No graphing calculators or other information storage devices are permitted on tests. A calculator that computes derivatives or anti-derivatives may not be used on any test or quiz. This will be enforced on the common final exam. Attendance: Attendance is crucial for success in this course and is required of all students without exception. A student absent from class bears full responsibility for all material covered in class. Students who miss more than 50% of their class meetings during the first four weeks of the fall or spring semesters without contacting their instructor or department may be Administratively Withdrawn from the course.
