Problem 1 (20 points): What is the difference between anti-entropy and rumor mongering (complex epidemics) ? Is the basic rumor mongering protocol based on pull or push model? What is the meaning of residue in a rumor mongering protocol? What is the relationship between residue and message traffic in complex epidemics ? Which of the two models – push vs. pull – is more desirable when the number of susceptible (uninfected) nodes is very low in the system? Problem 2 (10 points): Please refer to the paper on Chord.
