Please write short and succinct answers (no more than 150 words) for each of the following questions. Problem 1 (20 points): What is the difference between anti-entropy and rumor mongering (complex epidemics) ? Is the basic rumor mongering protocol based on pull or push model? What is the meaning of residue in a rumor mongering protocol? What is the relationship between residue and message traffic in complex epidemics ? Which of the two models push vs. pull is more desirable when the number of susceptible (uninfected) nodes is very low in the system? Problem 2 (10 points): Please refer to the paper on Chord. Consider a system in which up to 16 node identifiers are possible, i.e. m=4. (a) Suppose that initially only two nodes 0 and 8 are present in the system. What are the contents of their finger tables.
