MEMORANDUM To: Pam Johstoneaux From: Caitlin Dekker RE: Library Mini-course and Source Evaluation Date: October 25, 2010 1. Library Mini-course Evaluation I took the Library Mini-course on September 27, 2010 in the Harold B. Lee Library, room 2234. The instructor was Barbaraella Frazier and there were approximately 15 other students. During this course, my instructor showed us how to use the BYU library website to research effectively within our field of study. She showed us which search indexes to use as social science majors, such as PsychInfo. Also, she explained how to limit our search terms using Boolean phrases. This mini-course was not very helpful for me because I took a similar course during my freshman year. She taught us how to use the same resources that I learned about two years ago and have continued to use throughout my college research experience. The only new tool I learned about was the Thesaurus on the library’s website which helps you know if research for your topic can be found under different terms. Overall, the mini-course was unnecessary for me.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
