Objectives of this laboratory experiment: a. Observe the effects of varying levels of luminous flux on solar cell output. b. Observe the effects of shading on solar cells. c. Observe the effects of cell temperature on solar cell output. 3. Equipment 1 st generation solar cell strip consisting of 5 solar cells Multimeter Light source o 3 sets of 11 white LED lights connected in series Set of load resistors ranging between 0 and 1000 Optical pyrometer (optical temperature sensor) DC Power supply Light meter Heating strip (120V AC, 35W max) Variable Autotransformer Optional: Laptop computer with Microsoft Excel (only one member in each group need bring a computer). o Note: It is recommended that intermediate calculations and plots be done by computer during the experiment to ensure that the data turns out as expected. Also note that at least one set of data must be recorded by hand during the experiment. Calculations and plots need not be written by hand during the experiment. Only the hard data needs to be recorded by hand. A copy of the hand written data will need to be included with each lab report submitted. Optional: Camera 4. Experimental Procedure NOTE: Make a note of any observations that you find relevant during the experiment.
