While staying in a hotel, you decide to rent a DVD from the font desk.
They have 6 comedies, 5
action movies, 4 Romantic movies, 9 children’s movies, and one classic western movie.
Suppose that you want to apply what you are learning in MAT 151 to this movie selection. You
decide to consider the selection as an experiment. You write the genre of each movie on a
piece of paper, put them in a hat, mix them up and then compute as follows:
a.
Identify the sample space of this experiment.
b.
Compute the probability of randomly selecting a children’s movie.
c.
Compute the probability of randomly selecting a classic western movie or an action
movie.
d.
Are the events in part c mutually exclusive?
Explain.
e.
If the desk clerk allows you to select two DVDs, what is the probability that you will
select two action movies?
