Spring 2011 The Physical World Around Us Assignment 2 Earth Systems 450:101 Due before class: Friday, April 1 (consult syllabus for late submission policy) Every day all around you interactions within and between the atmosphere, land and ocean are occurring. Some may be totally natural (a nor’easter pounding the NJ coast), others a mix of natural and human interactions (a rain-induced landslide along a road cut on a local highway), and some primarily human induced (the explosion of a barge in a local harbor and a resulting smoke plume). A goal of this course is to make you aware of such happenings, to open your eyes so you may more readily identify such occurrences, and to help you understand how and why they occur. As such, for this assignment you will be keeping your eyes to the sky and landscapes around you, looking for an event that transforms either of them (or perhaps both). a) Photographically document THREE such events. NO TWO may be the same. At least ONE must be of a primarily atmospheric nature and at least ONE must be of a primarily landscape
