IAMDN Special Seminar Concepts in Thin-Film Photovoltaics Alan E. Delahoy Formerly Vice President, Research & Development New Millennium Solar Equipment Corp. (formerly EPV Solar, Inc.) Robbinsville, NJ 08691 Monday, October 24 th , 2011 12:00 – 1:00 CCR 201 (McLaren/MSE Building) The proliferation of device types and the sophistication of research directions means that the field of thin-film photovoltaics can no longer be adequately reviewed in a single seminar. Instead, we present some general principles and illustrate them with specific examples drawn from the areas of a-Si:H, nc-Si:H, CdTe, CIGS, DSSC, polymer,

In so doing, we will touch on important advances in transparent conducting oxides, large area deposition, new layers and their function in state-of-the-art devices, light management, and nanostructures. The discussion will range over advances in materials, device design principles, theoretical underpinnings, and will exemplify the multidisciplinary nature of photovoltaics. Some ideas for promising research directions will be aired. Interested in meeting with Alan during his visit? Contact: Dunbar Birnie (dunbar.birnie@rutgers.edu)...
