Jennifer Jacob January 29, 2011-10:00 pm Chemistry 180 Section 1: Abstract, Experiment, and Observation Abstract: Learning laboratory techniques is vital to carrying out experiments effectively. In this lab, I became familiar with measuring techniques, volume and density measurements and calculations, and lab procedures in general. I found many of the density measurements and calculations to be close to the given standards. I was able to master lab procedures with ease. Experiment: I. Length Measurements 1. Find three miscellaneous household objects: cigarette box (Newport 100’s), deodorant (with lid on – Suave), cassette tape (Master’s of Metal). 2. Measure each of the three objects and record their lengths (mm) II. Warm Temperature Measurements 1. Fill a 100mL beaker with hot tap water half way. 2. Measure the Celsius temperature of the water. 3. Put the 100mL beaker of water on top of the wire gauze section.
