Manifest functions are functions that lead to an expected consequence or outcome. The manifest functions of education are to increase the knowledge of people to prepare them for work. Latent functions are functions that lead to unforseen or unexpected consequences. The latent function of education is the development of a hierarchy of the learned. Women are more educated then they once were. THey are not pushed to obtain employment in "feminine" jobs, such as teachers and nurses. Women earn the majority of associates and bachelors degrees. Where as years ago many colleges only accepted men. Monarchy is a political system in which usually one family rules from generation to generation. Leaders are selected by divine right or heritage. This system isn't good because not each member has the same knowledge or ability to run a country. Authoritarianism involve an individual or a small group of people which take power and use repression and other techniques to run a country. This is not good because the people of the country have no say in their laws or how their
