Organs are structures composed of two or more tissue types joined together that perform a specific function or functions. What is an organ system? Organ systems are groups of organs that together to perform a vital body function. 2. What are tissue membranes? Tissue membranes are flat, thin structures consisting of a layer of epilithial tissue and a layer of connective tissue that line each body cavity and form the skin. Where do you find each type of tissue membrane? Serous membranes line body cavities, mucous membranes line the airways, digestive tract, and reproductive passages, synovial membranes line the cavities between bones in movable joints, and cutaneous membranes is our outer covering. 3.
