In America we are surrounded by many different races and cultures which include different ways of living and speaking, many people even believe that all Hispanic groups are all the same. Some of these different people include Hispanic groups including; Mexican Americans, Puerto Ricans, Cubans, and central/south Americans. These people are different from not only a white Americans but also each other in many ways including; linguistic, political, social, economic, religious, and familial conventions or statuses. Mexican Americans are the most known or “recognized” groups in the United States. Also known is with a majority of Mexican Americans use Spanish as their primary language even when born in the United States. Their language is spoken at home, during entertainment, large family occasions, in a religious setting. For most Mexican Americans English is only spoken when it comes to education and employment and sometimes even then it is poorly spoken. When it comes to employment among Mexican Americans it is something the helps to decide an overall social and economic stand point as it does with most everyone. According to figures 9.3 and 9.4, in Chapter 9 of Racial and Ethnic Groups, though the income level of Hispanic Americans has risen slightly so have the poverty trends.
