Question Statistic Definitions and Examples: Number of Respondents: The number of students who took the exam. Number of Questions: The number of exam questions available to students on the exam. (Note: If exam  pools were used, the question-level statistics section may include more questions  than displayed here because statistics display for all of the questions in the pool.) Points Possible: The maximum number of points a student can achieve on the exam; calculated by  summing the points possible for all questions in the exam. (Note: If you choose to  "curve" the exam by modifying the Points Possible  within the Gradebook  , any  changes you make will not be reflected in the Points Possible displayed in Exam  Statistics. Modifying the Points Possible  in the Author view of the exam itself  (i.e.,  the Exam Builder) will display changes in Exam Statistics.) Highest Score: The highest number of points achieved by any student on the exam. Lowest Score: The lowest number of points achieved by any student on the exam. Range: The span between the lowest and highest achieved scores on the exam.   Example:   If the lowest score on an exam was 15 and the highest score was 90, the range is  75. Mean: The average score on the exam.   Example:   50 students take an exam. At the end of the exam, all of the students' scores  added together equal 500. To find the Mean Score, take the total for the test (500)  and divide by the number of students who took the test (50). The result (500/50 =  10) gives you 10 as the mean or average score for the test.
