Role Clarity Fundamentals Each component has a Role to play within a System to accomplish the common goal A System could be a machine, a computer, our physical body, a community, a society, an educational institution or a natural system such as the weather system Our focus is on the Business System or a Corporation A Corporation is a group of people coming together to create value for its stakeholders For a group to function, there is the need for alignment Understanding clearly everyone’s role is one of the key tools for alignment of direction

Structure of the Organization Before defining an individual role, we have to build a structure for the system The most common structure is the hierarchical structure Should we have a long term Strategy before designing a Structure? If Strategy changes, should Structure change? To retool the Structure for better efficiency, we talk about Re-Structuring or Re-Engineering Who is overseeing Strategy and Structure changes? The Leader.

Role Clarity and Leadership The leader has to decide how organisation will ensure that everyone knows what their role is and what is expected of them in their daily work so that they are committed and enthusiastically doing all they can to move the Company towards its goals The boss job is also to help his/her subordinates to do their jobs to the best of their ability
