AE 362-SPRING 2011 HW2 1- For the uniform beam and loading shown, determine the reaction at the supports. Choose the reaction R A as the redundant reaction and use the Castigliano's theorem to determine R A by setting the deflection at A to zero. 2- A slender curved bar AB lying in a horizontal plane with its centerline forming a quarter circle of radius R is subjected to a vertical load P at the free end B . The bar has flexural rigidity EI and torsional rigidity GI p . Determine the vertical deflection δ v and the angle of twist Φ at the end by using the unit load method .
