Marketing Research BBA 3231 James Tilley, Sec 1, Ex 1 Q 3 Descriptive research is defined as a type of conclusive research that its sole purpose is to describe something normally within market characteristics or functions. These are some of the ways that descriptive research is conducted secondary data analyzed, surveys, panels, and observational plus other data collected. I would conduct a survey on the brand or type of candy that I was losing market shares over. The survey would give me immediate date from a large audience about my candy and some ideas on how to correct the problem. The other type of descriptive research I would conduct is longitudinal design. Longitudinal design will allow me to track the changes of the candy over several different points in time. Causal research is defined as conclusive research that its sole purpose is to obtain evidence on the cause and effect of the products. The main idea behind casual research is some type of experiment to determine the cause and effect. I would use the casual research based upon what data I gained from the descriptive research. Some of the questions I would ask are the amount of marketing dollars virus the amount of dollars spent on product production. Another question is products image virus the quality of the candy due to the short life of the candy. I would identify the problem the problem that is causing the lower sales and apply the time, rescores, and money to quickly correct the problems and regain the majority of the market share....
