NATIONAL UNIVERSITY of SINGAPORE Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering EE2005 – Electronics Tutorial 1 (This tutorial will be discussed in Week 4; There are no assigned problems for grading.) 1. (a) Consider a two-stage amplifier comprising Transconductance Amplifier A as a first stage and Voltage Amplifier B as a second stage, as shown in Figure Q1. A small signal voltage source v s with an amplitude of 25 mV and a source resistance R s of 1 k Ω is fed into the first stage (Voltage Amplifier A). The output port of the first stage is connected to the input port of the second stage (Voltage Amplifier B). The load R L is a 1 k Ω resistor. Calculate the overall voltage gain v o / v s . (Ans.: 206.61) Figure Q1. (b) The two-stage amplifier of Figure Q1 is now reconfigured such that Voltage Amplifier B is used as the first stage and Transconductance Amplifier A is used as the second stage, i.e. their positions are swapped. Calculate the overall voltage gain v o / v s . (Ans.: 110)
