Griswold_Matthew_CC7 1. What is the relationship between technology cycles and the S-curve pattern of innovation? A Technology cycle is a cycle that begins with the “birth” of a new technology and ends when that technology reaches its limits and is replaced by a newer, substantially better technology. An S curve pattern of innovation is characterized by slow initial technological progress, followed by rapid progress, followed by another period of slow progress. 2. Explain why innovation matters to companies? Innovation is important to companies because it can lead to competitive advantage. 3. Describe innovation streams. Innovation streams are a pattern of innovation over time that can create sustainable competitive advantage. The four phases of an innovation stream are technological discontinuity, era of ferment, dominant design, incremental change. 4. How can companies create creative work environments?
