Objective 1. To demonstrate the use of operational amplifiers in active filters. 2. To design active low and high pass filters using coefficient tables. Diagrams Procedure 1. To demonstrate the operational amplifier used in a VCVS, second-order, low-pass filter with butterworth characteristics. Connect the circuit in figure 5. 2. With Vs adjusted to produce a 1Vpk sine wave at 500Hz and record the peak value of the output voltage Vo 3. Now increase the frequency of the signal generator until the output voltage Vo equals 0.707 times that measured in procedure step 2. The frequency where this occur is the cutoff frequency f 2 of the filter. . 2.106v*0.707= F=1.4889kHz

4. Replace each resistor R in figure 5 with a 4.7kΩ resistor. With vs adjusted to produce a 1Vpk sine wave at 100Hz, measure and record the peak value of Vo. Measure the cutoff frequency f 2 of the filter as described in procedure step 3. Vo =2.027v*0.707= 1.433089
