Part One This would be a very serious issue for me. As chief and editor I want my readers to know the facts. I want them to trust where there information is coming from. If that trust and bond is broken then the readers more than likely won’t buy my papers any more. Giving chance for other newspapers to step up and take over with better reporters that can be trusted. With all this in mind I would immediately call the reporter in my office. I would tell him/her that they had broken all trust I had in them. I would inform them that that is not the kind of business I want to run. Then I would let them know that what they have done is very serious and working as longs as they have they should and do know better. I do not employ fakes I expect nothing but the best from everyone and lying isn’t their best. I would let them know that they are being fired and that what they did is not acceptable. I know that seems harsh, but your readers have to trust your paper and they can’t as long as the reporter is a liar. After I have talked with him/her I know I have to clean up their mess. This will be a very difficult task and will take a lot to get everything back together. I would start by calling the local news stations and have an interview with each one explaining the situation and what has been done about it. I will let them know we do not put up with behavior like that and refuse to. I will also strongly apply that that is not the kind of paper we are. I would push the fact that our paper is based on facts and facts only. I will also stretch the fact that I had no knowledge the reporter
