2601 For the past three summers at Dellavalle Laboratory Inc., Joshua Fridlund has experienced life as a scientist. The typical summer jobs for a teenager often consist of either grunt work at a construction site, lifeguarding a community pool, or babysitting. This stereotype does not apply for the eighteen-year-old Joshua Fridlund. For five days a week from 7:00 AM until 3:30 PM, Fridland has worked as a lab technician for Dellavalle Laboratory in Fresno, CA for the past three summers. Dellavalle Laboratory, Inc. is an environmental/agricultural laboratory and consulting firm. Weighing plant tissue samples and testing them for their nitrogen content are a regular part of his summer days. Other tests he conducted included testing soil samples for their pH level (level of acidity). Excelling in high school Chemistry, Fridlund loves working in the lab testing different samples.
