Rebecca Densen “Oleana” UB Center for the Arts Black Box Theatre I saw the show “Oleana” in the Black Box Theatre in the Center for the Arts in UB on Wednesday, October 27, 2010. I have read the play in a class I had taken prior to this performance and was glad I did. I was able to compare how I visualized it to what I saw. The performance was very well done in my opinion. They performers made their parts believable and relatable, the lighting added intensity as did the sounds that were added. The set was beautifully made and the costumes were perfect for the personas the actors were portraying. What interested me the most was the clear directorial touches added to the production. The acting of the performers was very well done. In the first scene the frustration the two felt towards each other was apparent, especially on the students end. This was made clear through the way the two continually cut each other off while speaking. The frustration the professor felt towards everyone on the phone was made very clear too by not only him being cut off but by the constant change in his tone of voice. They anger the student, Carol, felt towards her teacher and herself for being “stupid” was clear, by the way she yelled at him and the way she had to look directly at her notes. In the next act
