Rebecca Densen The Duchess of Malfi Questions: -What exactly did Bosola win in the beginning of the play to make the brothers reward him, want to hire him as a spy, and want to then go to war? They said it had something to do with being with a women various times but I did not understand. -How is Antonio and the Duchess’ marriage legal? They said she asked a lawyer and it was but without being bound by the country or church how is it considered legally bounded? The biggest injustice in “The Duchess of Malfi” is the brother’s selfishness and the actions that take place because of this selfishness. They originally try to hire Bosola to watch the Duchess and make sure she doesn’t marry. They say its to protect her reputation but in reality it is to keep their estate.
