Hydrocarbon -- weigh 50mg (.05 g) into shell vial - Add 1 mL Ethanol- boil until dissolved - add a few drops of H_2_O_ until right before cloudiness persists - cool with ice bath - Vacuum with Hirsch funnel 3. Acid - Weigh 50 mg (.05 g) and add 1 mL H_2_O_ - Heat to dissolve- add a few drops of Ethanol to dissolve
