A.P. Western Lit Summer Reading What really is justice? Does it mean revenge, vengeance? Is it fair, or is it just punishment? This is the question that Christopher Phillips set out to answer in his third dialogue held in the former Aztec Mercado in Mexico City. Now while he is discussing six questions that were discussed back thousands of years ago by Socrates, these questions have some very modern applications. For instance, is the death penalty really fair? Does another death make up for a loved ones dead family member? Although his discussion focused on Mexican issues, the topic applies to so much more than just Mexico. The question of what justice is applies to some of the hottest topics being discussed at this very moment. One of these is current the U.S national healthcare debate. While the topic itself may be healthcare, it all leads back to the question of justice; how fair is it for the government to do this thing or that thing and how fair is it to the people that it affects.
