Skin Cancer Assignment 1. What are the risk factors for skin cancer? a. The risk factors for skin cancer are being a fair-skinned individual who sunburn easily, using tanning devices frequently, family history, repeated medical and industrial x-ray exposure, immuno suppression, scarring from diseases or burns, and occupational exposure to compounds such as coal, tar, and arsenic. 2. List ten guidelines to help prevent skin cancer. 10 guidelines to help prevent skin cancer are: o Develop a regular routine to inspect your body for skin changes o If a growth, mole, sore, or skin discoloration appears suddenly, or begins to change, see a dermatologist immediately. o Generously apply a broad-spectrum water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. o Wear protective clothing, such as a long-sleeved shirt o Seek shade when appropriate o Avoid tanning beds o Protect children by playing in the shade and by using sunscreen o Get vitamin D safely though a healthy diet.
