Unformatted text preview: Business Policy and Strategic Management BUS 690 GROUP PROJECT GUIDELINES Group projects should be in-depth case analysis on a company approved by your instructor and not otherwise covered in class or in the textbook. The analysis must apply multiple concepts (based on at least five chapters ) from the textbook to help better understand the strategies, actions and performance of a given company. You will be expected to draw upon the various analytical frameworks presented in class and from the readings. Do not attempt to address all the topics covered in the course. Select one or two salient issues and do a thorough analysis of these. For some firms, it will make sense to analyze their diversification strategy. In this case, identify the forms of diversification the firm has pursued (e.g. vertical integration) and assess the reasons behind the diversification (e.g. core competency). For other firms, for example, it will be interesting to look at the companys pursuit of cooperative strategies, such as joint ventures and strategic alliances. In all cases, assess the reasons for and the performance of their strategy. Interim Report Each team will submit a short (6 page, 12 point font, double-spaced, 1 inch margins) competitive analysis in Week 8 (Oct 13 - 14) .
