Brooke Galietto September 17, 2008 Business 101 Thomas L. Friedman Lecture The first thing I thought when I returned to my dorm after Thomas Friedman’s lecture was “I’m tired”. Thomas Friedman’s lecture held at Millett Hall tonight was brief but jam-packed with valuable information and ideas. I am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to attend this lecture. Friedman was not apprehensive to admit that America is in trouble. He stated that America lacks that special something that once made it so great. However, rather than dwelling on the rut we as a nation find ourselves drowning in, Friedman focused on the safety nets and the ladders we can use to escape. Although many issues surrounding our country’s present state were mentioned, Friedman dubbed the convergence of energy and the environment as the most important issue facing America. Friedman also identified Energy Technology (aka “E.T.”) as the sole entity capable of restoring America’s past prosperity. According to Friedman,
