Communication in Organizations Chapter 12 I.       Organizations       An organization is a group of interdependent individuals brought together in  a hierarchical structure to perform a variety of tasks in the accomplishment  of some goal A.             Structure       Dictates the flow of communication Where the power is Tall Organizational Structure: has a lot of different power levels o A lot of management o Messages can get distorted through transport Flast Organizations: not very many tiers of powers, usually a lot more works  at the bottom level o Large number of people reporting to one particular boss B.             Communication Networks       Formal and informal power status o Cliques- each organization has its own size and way of governing  them 1.             Bridges       1
