Unformatted text preview: The Dark Side of Leadership- Lesson Plan Where Does Good Leadership Become Bad Leadership? Eben Stansbery, Brooke Galietto, Dana Sharff, Kelsey Thomas, and Tim Pazyniak Professor Dr. Megan Gerhardt, Ph. D. Management 415 19 April 2011 Introduction Dictionary.com provides this interesting definition of a cult: a religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader. Now, consider the need for a charismatic leader to make a group into a cult. Perhaps the difference between a cult leader and a regular leader is the fact that cult leaders do not act necessarily in the best interest of the group nor do they consult the group in the creation of a vision or a goal. The purpose of our survey is to explore people’s opinions and preferences for what is good leadership and when does it go bad? In other words, when does a leader cross the line from being an inspiration to a manipulator? Furthermore, we suggest that as individuals we should be more aware of how powerful people influence us. We will now give the class the opportunity to participate in the survey. Then we will add their results to our previous findings and discuss the overall results. We believe that the results of this survey raise important questions about “The Dark Side of Leadership”.
