Introduction Dictionary.com provides this interesting definition of a cult: a religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader. It is interesting to think about the need for a charismatic leader to make a group into a cult. Perhaps the difference between a cult leader and a regular leader is the fact that cult leaders do not act necessarily in the best interest of the group nor do they consult the group in the creation of a vision or a goal. Instead, they impose their beliefs on the group. The History Channel explores why cults develop and what makes a group a colt.
