Brooke Galietto March 29, 2011 MGT 415 – LPA 6 I worked at a Lily Pulitzer store a couple of summers ago as a retail sales associate. At this summer job, I learned a lot and experienced both feelings of empowerment and feelings of insignificance. It is interesting to consider that in one job and from one boss an employee can feel both sides of the “Enabling Others to Act” discussion. I was a rising junior in high school while the majority of the other employees were in college, which created many challenges and awkward moments for me. Alicia, the store manager and my boss was in her late twenties and a very outgoing social person. Therefore, she developed really great relationships with the college girls both at work and outside of work going to bars and stuff like that. Because of this I missed out on a lot of discussions about the store and often felt out of the loop. The store definitely was run like a team however I always felt like I was on the bench because I was never on the same page as the other girls. Naturally, I ended up taking on some of the least exciting tasks
