A struggle that the workers of Hearthside have to deal with is shelter; most of her co-workers have roommates because they cannot afford to live alone. Another struggle is the treatment in the family restaurant. In the employee meeting the workers voice is not heard, instead the workers voice is ignored. The meeting did not concern we but it was more of an announcement by higher authority that demonstrated the inequality in this workplace (Ehrenreich 23). Thus, Ehrenreichs experience in Florida demonstrated that workers have many struggles in their personal life, and within in the working community.
