Clark, Ph.D. Lectures : MWF 11:15am - 12:05pm , Th 11am-12:15pm, in Boyd 222 My Oce : Boyd 502 Oce Hours : MWF 12:15pm-1:15pm, and by appointment Course text : Calculus , by Michael Spivak: 4th edition. Topics Covered : In the fall we will cover Chapters 1 through 12 of the text: foundations, limits, continuity, interval theorems, derivatives and applications. Course grade : 3 midterm exams, for a total of 60% homework, 15% final exam, 25% The three midterm exams will be announced in class, at least ten days in advance. The exams will probably be given on Thursdays, so you will have 75 minutes to complete them rather than 50 minutes. I will try to fit in two midterms exams before the October 20th withdrawal deadline. The midterms will be cumulative , in the sense that you will always be responsi- ble for previously learned material. (Mathematics is almost inevitably cumulative). But you can expect an emphasis on the most recent material covered, as indicated above. The final exam will be comprehensive....
