MC4304 Advertising Portfolio Fall 2010 1 Preparing Your Creative for Presentation Tools and Materials Black presentation board or foam core/museum board o Letramax 100 SuperBlack Mounting/Presentation Board recommended o Make sure the boards have a black core, i.e. not a white core covered with black paper. o Whichever type of board you decide to use, be consistent throughout the semester and in your portfolio. o Decide how you will mount your boards throughout the semester. For example, if you buy pre-cut 16 x 20 boards, use the same size boards for all your pieces knowing that the border size may differ depending on the ad size. Or, if you buy a larger board and cut it to fit your print, you may decide to have a consistent border size for all your pieces. o You should have at least a 1.5” border on all sides. Optimal border size is 2.5-3” but it can be larger. o Ideally, you should mount only one print to a board. However, if you have a double-sided piece (e.g. brochure or postcard), you can mount both sides to the same board. You can also mount an entire campaign on the same board if the ads are small enough. o
