John Ruhlman 11/30/10 “Article Summary #2” This summary is on the article titled “Stop Demotivating Your Employees” written by David Sirota, Louis A. Mischkind, and Michael Irwin Meltzer. The main premise of this article urges companies to find ways not to demotivate their employees, especially after the first 6 months of the job. When 1.2 million employees were surveyed, 85% said they became unmotivated after their first 6 months on the job. The article offers 3 goals to help maintain a level of motivation for employees throughout the company: Equity, Achievement, and Camaraderie. If any of these 3 are missing, it is much more likely that an employee will begin to feel unmotivated. . More importantly, the article gives 8 important practices where the main purpose is to support equity, achievement, and camaraderie. The 1 st is to instill an inspiring purpose, where an employee needs to feel like the work their doing is worth their time and effort. The 2 nd practice is to provide recognition to the employee,
