Important Information - Table 2.3/2.4 “Some Common Polyatomic Ions” will be provided on the upcoming midterm (February 10 th ) - A table of oxidation numbers will also be available. - You still need to know how to create names for binary molecular compounds (prefixes are needed to be learned). - Uncommon conversions (beyond the list in table 1.4) will also be provided. - Assignment 1 is posted - There are some practice questions in the assignment that are not worth marks. - You get 3 attempts at each question but you loose marks for each wrong attempt. - Think about your answer before you submit it. - Start early – questions on chapter 1-3.

All substances involved must be known. The equation must be balanced, because of the Law of Conservation of mass. **There must be an equal number of each element on both sides of the equation.**
