Kenny O’Brien October 11, 2010 UW 020-14 I will be writing my research paper on Fight Club , a postmodern film directed by David Fincher. The movie is very unlike reality, emphasizing multiple personalities, extreme violence, and taking note of problems within society as a whole. Fight Club relies upon its main characters, an unnamed narrator played by Edward Norton and a Tyler Durden played by Brad Pitt. These characters form somewhat of an intimate relationship as they bond over the things they have in common, most notably a love for fighting. But the audience finds out in the end that this relationship was in fact a fraud. The two characters are one in the same. The narrator is Tyler Durden… he simply has multiple personalities. The main question my essay will be based on is “why does Fincher hide the fact that the narrator and Tyler are the same until the end of the movie?” I will discuss the different characters in the film individually, and talk about how their actions differ from what may be considered “normal.” Most of the characters can be
