Chapter 3 Preparing for Conscious Communication in the Workplace 1. Explain the elements of the CCCD process and tell how they work to create conscious communication in the business setting. Choose: Establishing a goal for your message. o Audience needs and expectations It is important to understand what your listeners should gain or expect to gain from your presentation. You need to identify reasons why your client would agree or disagree. Also need to be aware of potential problems or objections that may be made. Remember, you must also identify the different types of people in the audience. That way you can successfully feed all of their needs. o Possible communication outcomes Outcome: what you achieve as a result of speaking. Inform listeners about an idea, process or concept Persuade listeners to accept, purchase, value, or act on the information Entertain listeners Build relationships with the listeners o Establish criteria for measuring success: thinking about the desirable statements, behaviors, or actions that you want to receive from your audience during and after presentation.
