Chapter 10 Communicating in Groups and Teams 1. Define team and synergy and explain how conscious communication works to develop these terms. A team is a group of individuals who share a unifying goal. Synergy is the stage at which people are truly working together. Conscious communication helps you choose strategies for choosing teams, create goals and strategies for the team, coordinating and establishing a creative environment for Team Problems solving, and delivering it. 2. Discuss the eight strategies for effective team leadership and offer an example. Initiating discussions: A team leader recognizes when the team needs to communicate and initiates the discussions needed to move forward. Providing information: Listen and gather all information, verbally or electronically, and weed out what is important, relaying it to the rest of the team Seeking information: Recognize information is needed to move forward. Start by asking the right questions, identify sources for additional info, and arrange access to this information. Consensus building:
